DESIGN BY

A flat on Pheng Geck Avenue where the entrance is an arch cut into a wall of walnut, lit like a niche in a gallery.

The first thing the design does is turn the shoe cabinet into architecture: a full-height walnut elevation with an arched recess cut into it, lined in a paler finish and backlit, with louvred vents and a bench at its base. The arch motif returns further in, framing the passage to the bedrooms. The kitchen is the other centrepiece — a white stone island with a waterfall edge and a lit timber underside, a linear brass pendant above it, and a galley run behind in olive-grey with a mirrored splashback that doubles the depth of the room. Bedrooms keep to greige and cream with a pair of slim drop pendants either side of the bed instead of lamps, and the bathroom carries the same walnut through a floating vanity under a mirror lit from behind.
